A Quick Way to Test Your Love for God
Do you love God?
There was a bumper sticker in the 1970's that read, "Honk if you love Jesus." Then a few years later someone created a new bumper sticker that read, "Tithe if you love Jesus. Any idiot can honk."
There's some truth that, right? The real evidence of love for God is obedience to His will. And tithing is only one of His commands (Malachi 3:10-12). God has a will for every arena of your life -- your finances, your sexuality, your marriage, your family, your time, your morality, your speech, your attitude, your relationships, etc.
So how's your love for God today? Here's a quick way to determine the answer to that question: Are there any clear commands in scripture that you are disobeying?
If your love for God is not where it needs to be, then there's wonderful news. Our sins have been paid for by the blood of Christ. Sin doesn't result in the loss of salvation. It only results in the loss of fellowship with God and the enjoyment of His blessings. And reconciling with God is simple. Simply confess your sins to Him -- admit your sin by name, apologize, affirm your commitment to obedience, and ask for forgiveness. And the Bible promises that God will forgive you each and every time (1 John 1:9).
