Are You Being Obedient To God?

The Christian life can be summed up like this:  Trust and obey.  I love the words from the old hymn:  "Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, than to trust and obey."

Pastor Robert Jeffress told this story from when he was a teenager.  When he was a child he played the accordion, and his parents signed him up to play at every possible venue.  Eventually he started to amass quite a bit of money.  At the age of 16 he volunteered at a little church north of Dallas.  One Sunday evening the pastor shared a vision to have a bus ministry so the kids from the inner city could come in and be saved.  The only problem was that the church had no buses and no money.  The pastor announced that the next Sunday night they were going to take a special offering to jump start this new ministry.  All week long Robert Jeffress prayed about what amount he was going to give.  And God spoke very clearly.  "Give everything in your bank account."  Robert tried to talk God out of it, but he couldn't.  He said it was the biggest decision he had ever made.  Was he going to obey God or not?  The next Sunday evening he took out his checkbook and gave all of his money.  What happened next?  He felt such relief.

God hasn't just spoken clearly to Robert Jeffress.  He has spoken to you as well.
Don't steal.  Don't lie.  Be committed to church.  Bring your tithe.  Clean up your language.  Don't look at porn.  Don't get drunk.  Don't have sex outside of marriage.  Disciple your kids.
God has indeed spoken to you very clearly.  Will you trust and obey?  I can promise you this:  You will not regret it.  You will only feel relief.

Acts 3:19-20 (CSB) says, "  19 Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out, 20 that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."
