7 Biblical Truths About Sex

There is a lot of confusion about sex in our culture.  And that's a problem because misunderstandings about sex lead to all sorts of problems.  But the Bible teaches us all we need to know.  In his book, Thinking Against the Grain, Allan N. Moseley summarizes the Christian view of sex in seven statements.
  1. God created sex. (Gen 1:27-28; 2:24-25)
  2. God’s original purposes for sex were unitive (i.e., designed to produce union) and procreative. (Gen 2:24)
  3. God intends sex to be pleasurable for husbands and wives. (Pr 5:18-20; Song of Solomon; 1 Cor 7:3-5)
  4. Sexual relations between unmarried partners is wrong. (1 Thess. 4:3-5; Heb 13:4)
  5. Illicit sex is harmful. (Pr 5:10-11; 6:28-29, 32-33)
  6. Christians can and should resist sexual temptation. (Rm 16:19)
  7. There is more to life and love than sex. (Col 3:4; 1 Cor 13:1-13)
