Trump's Acquittal Is An Answer To Prayer

Yesterday afternoon my wife and I gathered our six children around the television to witness history as President Trump was acquitted of the articles of impeachment.  It was a very exciting moment for us because this is something we have been praying for.  In fact, we have been praying for God to protect President Trump from the baseless, malicious attacks of the Democrats since he took office.

Why would a Christian family support President Trump?  It is very simple.  Trump has become an ally and defender of conservative Christianity, while the Democrat Party has been at war with Christians for years.  Let me give you just a few examples.

1) President Trump is a strong supporter of the Pro-Life movement.

The Democrat Party is the party of death.  They would like to legalize abortion during all nine months of pregnancy for any reason whatsoever.  They would have the government pay for it!  They want to force Christian pharmacists to sell abortion-inducing drugs.  They want to force Christian health-care workers and hospitals to participate in abortions.  They want to force Christian business owners to pay for their employees' abortions.

When Trump was running for office, some of us worried that his stance on abortion was just a ploy to win votes.  The past three years have proven that he is a very serious pro-lifer.  In his recent state of the union address, Trump called on Congress to ban late-term abortions.  He said, "We must all agree that every human life is a sacred gift from God."  Because of Trump the Supreme Court now has a conservative majority, which means we are closer to overturning Roe than ever before!  Trump was the first president to speak at the annual March for Life in Washington DC.

2) President Trump is a strong defender of religious liberty.

The First Amendment has been under assault by the Democrats for years.  They would like to see all expressions of religion relegated to the privacy of home and church.  They are more for the freedom from religion than the freedom of religion.  They are for the freedom to believe, but not the freedom to exercise your beliefs.

Trump has stood for religious liberty from the beginning.  Mike Huckabee said, "Few politicians in Washington, even Republicans, have ever defended our Christian heritage on the national stage as fiercely as President Trump."  In his state of the union speech on Tuesday he said, "My administration is also defending religious liberty, and that includes the constitutional right to pray in public schools.  In America, we don’t punish prayer. We don’t tear down crosses. We don’t ban symbols of faith. We don’t muzzle preachers and pastors. In America, we celebrate faith. We cherish religion. We lift our voices in prayer, and we raise our sights to the glory of God.”  In another speech Trump said, "Our Founders understood that no right is more fundamental to a peaceful, prosperous, and virtuous society than the right to follow one's religious convictions."  Trump has confirmed a record 187 new conservative federal judges, with many more on the way.  Writing for the Washington Post, Hugh Hewitt said, "For those whose faith is crucial to their lives, 'Trump judges' make all the difference in the world."

There are many other reasons to support President Trump.  Is he the perfect president?  No such thing.  Is he a strong Christian?  I don't even know if he is a Christian.  But his administration has promoted and defended conservative Christian values more than any president that I can remember.

Thank You, Lord, for protecting President Trump!  And please continue to protect him, to give him wisdom, and to use him to protect our nation from its enemies -- both foreign and domestic.
