How to Support Your Pastor

Do you know how to support your pastor?  His job is to lead you in the Lord, care for you, admonish you, keep watch over your soul, and the Lord will hold him accountable.  Here are six quick ways you can support him:

1) Give him recognition (1 Thess 5:12-13).  In other words, appreciate him (NASB), respect him (ESV), and honor him (NLT).

2) Regard him very highly in love (1 Thess 5:12-13).  The NLT says, "Show them great respect and wholehearted love."

3) Submit to his leadership (Heb 13:17).  If he is not leading in an unbiblical or immoral direction, then get behind him and help him.

4) Pay him well (1 Cor 9:14).

5) Pray for him (1 Thess 5:25).  He prays for you.  How about returning the favor?

6) Get along with the other church members (1 Thess 5:13).  Nothing discourages and distracts your pastor as much as internal conflict and division.  Keep the peace!

  1. Dear Friends, please read this and prayerfully consider the message. Be kind, supportive and loving to your pastor. His job is difficult and very demanding. He has to balance his job, his ministry, church responsibilities, family needs, church members' needs, etc. etc. etc. Be a blessing to him by being supportive of the church's ministries and church members. Be faithful, and a peacemaker and honor God in your church.
