7 Reasons to Connect to Home Group

It's no secret.  At Church Acadiana we want everyone to connect with a Home Group -- either as a Home Group leader or member.  Here are 7 reasons why.

  1. God has called the church to care for each other, but if nobody knows you, nobody can care for you.  Home Group places you in an environment where you can know and be known.
  2. We all live better when somebody is watching, but if nobody is watching you, then nobody can hold you accountable.  In a Home Group people will get a back-stage-pass to your life which will push you to be on the top of your game. Nothing good grows in the dark.  By connecting with a Home Group you will be living in the light where people can observe your choices.
  3. The Bible has almost 50 "one another" commands for Christians to fulfill in the context of church family, but that is almost impossible without Home Group.  "Love one another."  "Bear one another's burdens."  "Serve one another."  "Encourage and build up one another."  "Comfort one another."  "Motivate one another to love and good deeds."  "Teach and admonish one another."  How can you fulfill these without Home Group?
  4. The goal of preaching is life-change, and Home Group gives you the opportunity to make the Sunday sermon personal.  At Church Acadiana our Home Groups are sermon-based, which means our curriculum is the Sunday sermon.  This enables you to take it deeper; discuss it with others; talk about how you will apply it to your life; ask questions; and clarify your understanding.
  5. Spiritual growth happens when God puts you in a need-to-know or a need-to-grow situation.  But for those situations to result in growth, you need two things:  The Bible and other Christians.  Home Group makes sure you have those two things when you need them.
  6. Spiritual growth is accelerated when we have living models to observe, and that's what you get in Home Group.  You get to rub shoulders with Christians who are more mature than you, and baby Christians get to benefit from rubbing shoulders with you.
  7. Home Group helps you stick to the church.  We live in an age of church-hopping.  People move from church to church every couple of years without ever changing their home address.  This isn't healthy for churches or for individuals.  And stats show that people are far more likely to stick around when they are plugged in to a Home Group.
