57,762,169: Remembering Roe vs. Wade

Today is the 43rd anniversary of Roe vs. Wade.  It's a day Christians in America must never forget.  On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court made it legal to have an abortion for any reason during all nine months of pregnancy.  Since then, 57,762,169 abortions have been performed in the United States.  The USA is a wonderful place to live, unless you are a preborn baby.  As a preborn baby you are in danger of being legally murdered by your own mother if she sees you as an inconvenience rather than a blessing.  What a tragedy!

As Christians we must continue to fight for the protection of the preborn from conception.  At conception a preborn child has its own DNA and blood type, and is rapidly growing.  It is no less human than a newborn, or a two-year old, or a 25-year old.

How can Christians fight?  Don't ever have an abortion.  Never encourage someone to have an abortion.  Vote for political leaders who value life, even if they don't value your entitlements and labor unions.  Support crisis pregnancy centers that work to prevent abortions.  And engage in conversations, face to face and on social media.

Here's our case for life:
  1. It is wrong to kill an innocent human being.
  2. Abortion kills an innocent human being.
  3. Therefore, abortion is wrong.
This argument centers the discussion on the only thing that matters -- the life of the preborn child.  Abortion is not about women's rights; it is not about rape or incest.  None of those things change the fact that a preborn child is a human being deserving of all the rights and protections as everyone else.

When I brought up the issue of abortion today to another "Christian," he chuckled at my zeal and said, "You sure are worked up about this."  He was convinced that I was going overboard.  He said he couldn't remember the last time his church talked about abortion.

I replied, "Abortion is worth getting passionate about."  And it is.  The real problem is Christians who aren't passionate enough.  Christians who aren't informed.  Christians who aren't speaking up.  Christians who aren't civically engaged.  The real problem today is that there is too little moral outrage among Christians on the issue of abortion.  In the 2012 presidential election Barna Research found that of the 89 million born again Christians the US, 38 million did not vote, and 12 million of those were not even registered.  That means 38 million born again Christians allowed the most pro-abortion president in history to take leadership over our country without a fight.

So today, in memory of Roe vs. Wade, decide to join the fight for life until the fight is won.  And you can start by sending this article to as many people as possible.  You might lose a few friends, you might get some hate on social media, but it's worth it.  The lives of our preborn neighbors are worth it.
