Defeated by our own Timidity

On Monday David French wrote an important article called Small Acts of Cowardice are Killing our Culture.  His point is that the reason our country has been stolen by the left is not because of legislation or Supreme Court decisions, but because Christians have been too timid to speak up for what is true and right in small, everyday settings.  While the left shouts the loudest and makes a big deal out of everything, Christians have too often taken the path of least resistance, and in seeking to avoid conflict, we have surrendered the country to secular liberals.  French writes,
All the while, respectable people are aghast, still oblivious to the fact that their own timidity created the world we inhabit. So, sure, sit quietly in the face of indoctrination and intimidation. But know this: Unless you enter the fray, our cultural conflict will likely have a depressing result.
These small acts of cowardice are only encouraged when influential pastors like Andy Stanley and Perry Noble criticize Christians and pastors who do decide to travel the dangerous waters of culture and politics.  They believe that engaging in the culture war will only alienate us from the very people we are trying to evangelize.  As well, they argue that political engagement won't accomplish anything anyway, since real change must come from within the human heart through conversion.
While this sounds super spiritual, it is dangerously wrong.  If Christians did not engage in culture and politics in the past, then Andy Stanley and Perry Noble would not even have the freedom to make these comments.  It was Christians who founded our country upon the basic freedoms of religion, speech, and assembly.  It was Christians who led the movement to abolish slavery in America and England.  It was Christians who led the way in the Civil Rights movement.  And since Roe v. Wade it has been Christians leading the fight to save unborn babies.  I'm so thankful that these Christians were willing to engage.

The left tries to silence Christians by calling us hateful and "on the wrong side of history."  But if we want to preserve freedom for the next generation, stop the legalized murder of unborn children, and stop our country from slouching towards Gomorrah, then we cannot be silent.

To those with ears to hear, IT'S TIME TO ENTER THE FRAY.
