Why Tim Kaine is Wrong on Abortion

During Tuesday night's Vice Presidential debate the subject of abortion came up.  Tim Kaine advocated for the pro-abortion position, which is to be expected of a Democrat.  And Mike Pence advocated for the pro-life position, which is typical of a Republican.  You can watch the exchange here.  Here's why Tim Kaine is wrong on abortion.

Pro-lifers are not anti-women.  Kaine essentially said that if you are pro-life, then you are sexist against women.
"Why don't you trust women to make this choice for themselves?  We can encourage people to support life.  Of course we can.  But why don't you trust women?  Why doesn't Donald Trump trust women to make this choice for themselves?"
According to this line of reasoning, pro-lifers would be okay with abortion if the decision was made by the father.  But that's ridiculous.  Abortion should be abolished not because it is a woman who is making the decision, but because it is murder, and murder is always the wrong decision, regardless of who is doing the deciding.

Pro-lifers are not religious fanatics.  Kaine claims to be pro-life personally, but pro-choice politically because while he is religious, he doesn't want to push his religion on others.
"I think it is really, really important that those who have deep faith lives don't think that we can just substitute our own view for everyone else in society regardless of their views."
"We really feel like you should live fully and with enthusiasm the commands of your faith, but it is not the role of the public servant to mandate that for everyone else."
"I think you should live your moral values, but the last thing that government should do is have laws that would punish women who make reproductive choices."
The implication is that if you are pro-life, then you are a religious fanatic trying to force your religion on others.  But the pro-life position is not about religion; it is about murder.  The Declaration of Independence says that it is a self-evident truth (not a religious truth) that all men are created equal and have the right to life, and that protecting this right is the very reason that the government exists in the first place.  The fact that every person has the right to life means that no person has the right to commit murder.  You don't have to be religious to be against murder.

The Constitution does not protect the right to murder.  Kaine believes that a woman has the constitutional right to abortion.
"We support Roe vs. Wade.  We support the Constitutional right of American women to consult their own conscience, their own support of partner, their own minister, but then make their own decision about pregnancy.  That's something... we trust American women to do that."
That is simply not true.  The Constitution says nothing about abortion.  As well, the Declaration, which is the foundation of the Constitution, explicitly states that people have the inalienable right to life.  That means that the right to life is not granted by the government, and therefore the government does not have the right to take it away.

It doesn't sound like Tim Kaine understands the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, or the case for life.  And the case for life is simple:
  1. The unborn are human beings.
  2. It is illegal to kill innocent human beings.
  3. Abortion kills innocent human beings.
  4. Therefore abortion should be illegal, for any reason, at any point.
