Become a PRO Christian in 2017
Are you ready for 2017? How can you make the most of the new year? Start by putting first things first. Decide that this year you are going to prioritize your spiritual growth and health, no matter what. In other words, decide that even if you don't accomplish anything else this year, you are going to grow in Christ.
How do you do grow spiritually? Here's a simple plan for becoming a PRO Christian in 2017: Pray, Read, and Obey.
Pray. Start each day off in prayer. Set aside about 30 minutes before you begin the day to talk to God. If you're not sure how to pray with effectiveness, check out THIS SERMON on prayer.
Read the Bible. Along with starting each day with prayer, start each day by reading the Bible. Prayer is how we talk to God; the Bible is how God speaks to us. As you read, look for these four things, and use a different-colored highlighter for each: Truths to believe (blue); Promises to claim (yellow); Commands to obey (green); and Sins to avoid (pink). Obey. Wouldn't you like to be successful in 2017? All it takes is obedience. Success means reading your Bible and doing what it says. I like Life Action's definition of obedience: "Obedience is doing exactly what God says to do, when He says to do it, with a right attitude." The purpose of the Bible is not merely information, but transformation. As you read the Bible every day, adjust your life to its commands and principles.
If all you do in 2017 is grow spiritually, then you will be able to look back and call it a great year. Why? Because when you grow in Christ it improves all the other arenas of your life. So don't waste the opportunity that comes with the start of a new year. Put first things first and devote yourself to spiritual growth.
