How to Rejoice in the Lord Always
Three times in the book of Philippians Christians are commanded to rejoice in the Lord. Not only that, but we are commanded to rejoice in the Lord "always" (Phil 3:1; Phil 4:4).
What does it mean to rejoice in the Lord? First of all, it means to celebrate. We are to walk through life with a celebratory, joyful, happy, enthusiastic attitude and countenance.
What are we to rejoice about? We are to rejoice "in the Lord." In other words, we are to celebrate Jesus Christ -- who He is, what He's done, and all the blessings that we have because we know Him.
Why does God give us this command? Because rejoicing in the Lord, especially in times of difficulty, shows the watching world the greatness of Christ. It shows the world that all you need to be happy is Christ. It shows the world that knowing Christ is so awesome that it can enable you to be happy even when everything else in your life is not right.
