Contending For Religious Liberty: SCOTUS Will Hear the Baker's Case!

It's on.  For several years now Christians in the wedding industry have been persecuted for their beliefs about marriage.  In short, Christians have been told by state and city governments, "Use your talents and resources to participate in gay weddings, or you will be punished."  Bakers have been sued for refusing to make cakes for gay weddings.  Photographers have been sued for refusing to take pictures for gay weddings.  Florists have been sued for refusing to make flower arrangements for gay weddings.  Land owners have been sued for refusing to host gay weddings.  And these Christians have been losing in court.

Imagine if Christian business owners were forced by the government to participate in and support pornography.  Imagine if Christian photographers were forced to take pornographic pictures; Christian bakers were forced to make cakes with pornographic messages; Christian property owners were forced to rent out their facilities for the use of filming pornographic movies.  That would be horrible, and hopefully Americans would recognize it quickly as a violation of the First Amendment.  In effect, that's exactly what has happened with the issue of same-sex marriage.  The so-called "right" to practice homosexuality or to same-sex marriage has led to the persecution of Christians by by forcing them to either participate and promote it, or be punished.

So finally the issue is going to the Supreme Court.  The particular case to be decided is a Colorado bakery owner who refused to make a cake for a gay wedding (due to religious convictions) and was then punished for violating the state's anti-discrimination laws.  This all happened back in 2012.

This is a HUGE case!  As Christians we must pray for victory for Jack Phillips of Masterpiece Cakeshop, and his attorneys at Alliance Defending Freedom.  A win for him will be a win for all Americans.
