3 Tips For Better Time Management in 2021
How can you become more productive and make the most of your time in 2021? We can learn some valuable lessons about time-management from the early church.
As the church was just starting out, the apostles found themselves not only preaching, but managing the church's outreach program to its growing number of widows. Eventually the apostles realized that this ministry was eating up so much of their time that they did not have enough time to preach and pray. So the apostles did three things:
ONE: They clarified their priorities. Acts 6:2 says, "The Twelve summoned the whole company of the disciples and said, 'It would not be right for us to give up preaching the word of God to wait on tables.'" It's not that the widows were unimportant, but the ministry to the widows was preventing them from doing the work that Jesus had specifically called them to do -- preaching the gospel. The disciples clarified their priorities -- preaching the word. If they only did one thing, it would have to be preaching.
To make better use of your time, you must clarify your priorities. Only then can you effectively schedule your day. Only then can you effectively delegate. Only then will you have the ability to pass up good opportunities. Remember, the goal is not just busy, but effective.

Everything Christian a few of the same priorities: 1) Spiritual -- your relationship with God. 2) Spouse -- your relationship with your spouse. 3) Seed -- your relationship with your children. 4) Self -- your relationship with yourself.
TWO: They delegated. Acts 6:3 says, "Brothers and sisters, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and wisdom, whom we can appoint to this duty." Once the apostles had clarified their priorities, they were able to effectively delegate everything else. You will always be responsible for more than you can do yourself. If you don't delegate then you will burn out, or things won't get done. It is essential to ask for help. Give people permission to say "No," but also give them a chance to say "Yes."
THREE: They simplified. Acts 6:4 says, "But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word." After they clarified their priorities and delegated the rest, they narrowed their focus on the most essential things -- prayer and preaching. To accomplish more, they did less. Time management is not about getting more done, but being more effective. This means from time to time you need to do some schedule-pruning. Most people are doing too much; they are over-committed, over-scheduled, spread too thin. Everything else should either be delegated or discarded.
