Only One Way to Heaven
Acts 4:12 "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.”
Our culture hates this doctrine -- the exclusivity of Christ. People want to believe that there are many paths to God; that it doesn't matter what you believe, as long as you are a good person. But the Bible could not be any clearer on the subject: There is only one way to heaven -- Jesus Christ.
Standing for this doctrine will bring some heat. It will invite criticism, and possibly persecution. Anyone who believes this doctrine will be labeled a bigot, a hateful person, and worst of all... intolerant!
Most people do not understand tolerance anymore. It used to mean treating people with respect even if they disagree with you. Today it means no longer disagreeing; pretending that all ideas are equally valid. But as Christians we should follow the example of Christ and be tolerant of people, but intolerant of ideas. People are equal; ideas are not. Ideas have consequences, and if we love people, then we must point them to the truth that is in Christ.
If you want to be saved, then you must turn to Jesus Christ. There is no other way. Do not get hung up on the exclusivity of Christ. Instead, be thankful that there is a way for sinners who are alienated and hostile to God to be reconciled to Him and receive eternal life.
1 John 5:11-12 "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. The one who has the Son has life. The one who does not have the Son of God does not have life."
