You're Never Too Old To Serve The Lord

On Sunday, December 29, while our family was on the way home from Fort Worth after spending Christmas with my brother-in-law, a church in White Settlement, Texas was attacked by a gunman who killed two men.  Before he could do more damage, a church member drew his own gun and shot and killed the gunman.  That church member's name is Jack Wilson, a 71-year-old.  President of his own firearms training academy, it only took Wilson one shot, hitting the gunman in the head from forty feet away, while the gunman was on the move!  Jack Wilson did not just happen to be in the right place at the right time.  He volunteered for this post.  He serves as the church's head of security.  He is also running for Hood County Commissioner.

Jack Wilson, among other things, is a great example for older Christians.  You are never too old to serve the Lord.  It's never too late to serve the Lord.  No matter your age, you can still be a great blessing to your church and your community.  You have wisdom, skills, knowledge, and experience that are needed.  All you need to do is to find ways to serve and volunteer.

You may be retired from your job, but a Christian never gets to retire from serving God.  The only reason you are still alive is to serve the Lord.  Don't waste your last years.  Don't waste another breath.  Get busy serving the Lord.  And may God use you to make a big difference, just as He used Jack Wilson.
