Top Ten False Teachings in America Today

Christians are constantly exposed to false teachings today -- on TV, online, movies, school, etc.  We must "be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elements of the world, rather than Christ (Col 2:8)."

One of the ways to guard against error is to clearly identify the most dangerous false teachings.  Here are the top ten false teachings in America today (in no particular order).

One:  Critical Race Theory.

• The Lie:  All white people are oppressors (either consciously or unconsciously) and must repent and make reparations, and all black people are victims of racial oppression. 
• The Truth:  People should not be judged as a group, but as individuals.  Ezekiel 18:30 “Therefore, house of Israel, I will judge each one of you according to his ways.”

Two:  Socialism.

• The Lie:  The government has the right to take one man's money and give it to another man.
• The Truth:  If it is wrong for an individual to steal, then it is also wrong for the government.  Exodus 20:15 (KJV) "Thou shalt not steal."

Three:  Religious Intolerance.

• The Lie:  Religious liberty is the freedom to exercise your faith in private only.
• The Truth:  Religious liberty in private only is not religious freedom at all.  Acts 5:29 (NLT) "We must obey God rather than any human authority!"

Four:  Abortion.

• The Lie:  It is not murder to kill an unborn child.
• The Truth:  Murder is the killing of an innocent human being, regardless of size, level of development, environment, or degree of dependency.  Exodus 20:13 (KJV) "Thou shalt not kill."

Five:  Darwinian Evolution.

• The Lie:  Human beings evolved from lower life forms over millions of years.
• The Truth:  God created man from the dust of the ground, and woman from the rib of man, on the sixth day of creation.  Exodus 20:11 "For the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days."

Six:  Transgenderism.

• The Lie:  Gender is fluid, a spectrum, and is not tied to biological sex.
• The Truth:  There are only two genders, male and female, coinciding with a person's biological sex.  Genesis 1:27-28 "So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female."

Seven:  Homosexuality.

• The Lie:  Same-sex marriage is morally good.
• The Truth:  Homosexuality is evil, and marriage is the union of one man and one woman for a lifetime.  Leviticus 18:22 "You are not to sleep with a man as with a woman; it is detestable."

Eight:  Universalism.

• The Lie:  Everyone goes to heaven if you are a good person, regardless of what you believe.
• The Truth:  The only way to eternal life is through faith in Jesus Christ.  1 John 5:12 "The one who has the Son has life.  The one who does not have the Son of God does not have life."

Nine:  Pre-marital Sex.

• The Lie:  It is morally good to have sex before marriage.
• The Truth:  God's will for sex is never before marriage, never outside of marriage, and never with the same sex.  Hebrews 13:4 "Marriage is to be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, because God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."

Ten:  Social Justice.

• The Lie:  Everyone deserves the same economic outcome.
• The Truth:  People deserve to paid according to the value of their work.  Jeremiah 32:19 "Your eyes are on all the ways of the children of men in order to  reward each person according to his ways and as the result of his actions."
