How to Seek the Things A.B.O.V.E.

Colossians 3:1-2 "So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."

As Christians we are commanded to seek the things above; to set our minds on things above.  Seeking things above has to do with effort; setting our minds on things above has to do with concentration.  To seek is to strive earnestly for things above.  To set our minds on things above means to focus on; aim at; determine ourselves; commit ourselves to things above.

How do we seek the things above?

A -- Aim for God's glory.  Aim to please God, not impress people.  Aim to make God look good, not yourself. 

B -- Build God's church.  Christ loves the church.  Christ is building the church.  The church is His body and bride.  The church will last forever.  Get deeply involved in the church and work your tail off to make it healthier, and more fruitful, and more God-honoring. 

O -- Offer your money to God's work  It's okay to enjoy the money that God has given you, but do not forget to invest in eternal blessings.  Lay up treasures for yourself in heaven.  Tithe.  Give to the needy.

V -- Volunteer to do good deeds.  As much as you can, as often as you can, do good deeds by helping those in need.  This is how we store up treasures for ourselves in heaven.

E -  Evangelize the lost.  Work to bring as many with you to heaven.
