Are You Robbing God?

One time there was a man who saw a beggar on the street.  Feeling compassion, he looked in his wallet and saw $10, so he gave the beggar $9, keeping only $1 for himself.  The beggar took the $9, hit the man in the face, and grabbed the tenth dollar as well.

This is what we do when we refuse to tithe.  God owns it all, but out of compassion he lets us keep ninety percent of our finances for ourselves.  He only requires that we give Him the first ten percent.  That is called tithing.  But when we refuse to tithe, we rob God.  Not only do we take the ninety percent, but we steal the tenth percent for ourselves as well.

The Bible says that refusing to tithe is the same as robbing God.  And there are consequences for this.  Make no mistake.  God does not overlook or take lightly our disobedience.
"Will a man rob God?  Yet you are robbing me!"
"How do we rob you?" you ask.
"By not making the payments of the tenth and the contributions.  You are suffering under a curse, yet you -- the whole nation -- are still robbing me.  Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there my be food in my house.  Test me in this way," says the LORD of Armies.  "See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure."
Malachi 3:8-10
Tithing does not cure all financial woes, but refusing to tithe makes your woes even worse.  However, when we are obedient to bring the tithe, God promises to bless us beyond measure.

While we battle the coronavirus pandemic, do not forget to tithe to your local church.  And may God bless you for supporting His work.
