It's Time to Reopen Louisiana! Sign the Petition.

The number of people filing for unemployment in Louisiana last week neared 340,000.  State unemployment could hit 22%.  26 million Americans have sought jobless aid since the virus hit.  Haliburton closed a Louisiana facility last week, laying off 36 workers.  Oil prices have dropped below $1.  Stuller Settings has laid off hundreds of employees.  The National Restaurant Association said two-thirds of its workers -- more than 8 million people -- have been laid off or furloughed.  Four in ten restaurants are closed.  Galatoire's Restaurant in New Orleans has had to lay off 135 of its 160 employees.

COVID-19 has been a health crisis, but closing the economy has only resulted in another crisis.  It is time to reopen Louisiana now.  We simply cannot go on like this.  People have to work.  Individuals and business owners are smart enough to make their own health decisions.  This brief experiment of a centrally planned economy has been a dismal failure.
