The Fruit of the Spirit

At Church Acadiana our goal is to help believers become Christlike in their character, conduct, and convictions.  We just finished a three-part study on the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), which is a list of nine Christlike virtues.  Here they are, with a short definition of each.

1) Love: Love is doing what best for people, not what makes them feel good.  It is giving people what they need, not what they want.

2) Joy: Joy is an inner happiness not dependent on outward circumstances.

3) Peace: Peacefulness is working hard to get along with others.

4) Patience: Patience is being slow to anger when facing delay, hardship, or wrongdoing.

5) Kindness: Kindness is seeking to be helpful and beneficial to others.

6) Goodness: Goodness is helping the needy.

7) Faithfulness: Faithfulness is keeping your word.

8) Gentleness: Gentleness is staying calm and kind, even when you are angry.

9) Self-control: Self-control is doing what is right, even when you don't feel like it.
